A still life shot of some Red Delicious apples. A window was used as the only light source, modified using a few black flags. The analogous colour palette was obtained entirely in camera. I used a polariser to remove the window reflection from the apples.

The shot was set up ad hoc, with no prior planning of any kind; I had simply been bored. It turned out to be one of my best shots. The table is covered with a dappled vinyl backdrop, held flat by beer bottles pressing the edges down. The background uses another vinyl backdrop, a very dark one. A black flag on the left limits the amount of light from the window, and a second flag on the right limits the reflection and darkens the right edge of the apples. Everything visible in the frame were items I found lying around the kitchen.

Editing included some selective burning (notably, the bottom edge and the left-bottom corner, which would otherwise have been distracting), but little else has been done.
