FLICKR-Roll-35-Frame-22.jpg The Lion, the Leash, and the ArchwayThumbnailsPier Pressure
A winter scene with a weathered and broken pier extending into the frozen Lake Linowskie (Poland). Reeds stick out from the frozen water. Bare branches and dry grasses around the image's perimeter provide a frame. The sky is overcast, with patches of blue trying to break through.

I was walking around Lake Linowskie to test the HAS65 200D film (Kodak Vision3 250D with the remjet layer washed off). I was surprised to see no visible halation on the vast majority of the photos, likely due to fairly even lighting and a low overall contrast.

I was also testing the Minolta X-500, which was running on nearly discharged batteries, making the light meter non-functional. I was using a phone app to measure light, and it did a decent job.

This is one of the photos where the low battery charge manifested itself by darkening the right side of the frame. The shutter curtains of the X-500 travel a bit unevenly when the battery is low. I didn't know this at the time and attributed the effect to the freezing temperatures.
