A dilapidated wooden pier stretches out into still, reflective waters of a lake. The setting sun colours the sky a pinkish hue. The calm water reflects the sky and the forest on the opposite bank. Lake Szeląg Wielki, near Ostróda, Poland.

When driving from Olsztyn towards the S7 expressway, I was passing a small parking at the shore of Lake Szeląg Wielki. I remember stopping there multiple times in the past and often stepping onto the pier to admire the picturesque view. This time, it was the setting sun that attracted me. The pier turned out to be ruined, but it didn't really ruin the image; quite the opposite. I had a 24 mm lens on the camera and couldn't quickly swap to a more suitable focal length (likely 35 mm), so the sun appears small and insignificant in the frame. Instead, the pier's ruins grew to be the main subject, with the sun and the pinkish sky reflecting in the calm lake serving as a supporting subject, balancing the scene, but not stealing the show.

The edits are subtle. I focused on bringing out the darkest parts of the image and enhancing the pinkish glow of the sun.
