A picture of the Klif Orłowski (Orłowo Cliff), one of the most famous landmarks in Gdynia, Poland. The image was underexposed by a stop or two, so shadow detail in the rocks is poor.
I was testing a newly acquired Minolta XD7 and also the film. The light meter lied to me, so this image is clearly underexposed, with visible detail loss in the shadows. The 135 mm focal length allowed me to compress the perspective and bring the cliff close enough to serve as the main subject. The image was taken from the Orłowo pier, which is quite far away from the cliff, making standard lenses rather useless here.
The editing focuses on bringing out the Autumn colours, as well as the warm light from the rising sun, illuminating the cliff. The strong blues of the sky and the sea are mostly due to the underexposure.
